Dr. George Vincent Obituary

Dr. George Vincent was born on October 5, 1942, in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago to Augustine “Boss” Vincent and Dory Rose Clyne. As a young boy, he migrated to Grenada, where he spent his formative years and grew into the man so many came to know, respect, and admire.

Gifted with exceptional intellect, Dr. Vincent excelled academically from an early age. At just nine years old, he entered the Grenada Boys’ Secondary School (GBSS). After completing his studies, he briefly taught at the St. Andrew’s Anglican Secondary School (SAASS) before pursuing his undergraduate degree at the University of the West Indies.

His passion for veterinary science led him to the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, Canada, where he earned his PhD in Veterinary Medicine. Upon returning to Grenada in the early 1970s, Dr. Vincent served as Chief Veterinary Surgeon within the Ministry of Agriculture. He also dedicated his expertise to the R.E.S.P.C.A. Clinic in Tanteen, St. George’s, where he cared deeply for the welfare of animals.

Dr. Vincent was known for his quiet strength, thoughtful nature, and discerning character. He valued meaningful relationships and offered wise counsel to those close to him. He was an avid reader who engaged deeply with science, social issues, and current affairs. Outside of his professional life, he found joy in cooking, storytelling, humor, and the warmth of small gatherings. He was a devoted supporter of Manchester City Football Club and enjoyed watching soccer with great enthusiasm.

To his family, Dr. Vincent was a loving father and grandfather who took immense pride in their accomplishments. His gentle encouragement and steady presence shaped the generations that followed him.

He leaves to cherish his memory his son, Michael Vincent, and daughter, Danielle Garrette; his grandchildren Shaheba Brizan‑Jerome, Williston Vincent, Mikala Vincent, Natasha Vincent, Angelena Vincent, Ashley Vincent, Anissa Vincent, Michael Vincent Jr., Jamel Garrette, and Maya Garrette; and seven great‑grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Dr. Joseph McAuley, Roy Vincent, Christine Vincent‑Moore, Roslyn Dandridge, and Beatrice Smith of Trinidad & Tobago; along with many other relatives and dear friends, including Danny Fearon and Booze Taylor.

As we say farewell to Dr. George Vincent, we honor a life marked by intellect, humility, and unwavering love for family. Though his voice is silent, the wisdom he shared and the love he gave continue to shine brightly in the lives he touched. His legacy endures in the hearts of all who knew him.

Lovingly submitted by his family.
